In the summer, a youth swim team is an invaluable way for neighborhood kids to connect and create lifelong memories and friendships. The swim team campout, with its annual parents vs. kids dodgeball game, penny dive, and pancake breakfast, is one of the favorites.
A junior lifeguard program for middle schoolers provides a valuable social activity, and many kids get their first job as swim coaches or lifeguards.
Trick or treating is prime in this neighborhood, as you can imagine!!
The Fourth of July bike parade starts with bikes being decorated at the clubhouse. Then, the bikes are parading around the neighborhood, with refreshment stops along the way.

There is an organized day-long event with planned stops for breakfast and lunch hosted by various neighbors. A flatbed truck with trees blasts Christmas music (accompanied by festive “elves” of all ages). A personal family favorite was when we hosted an annual Gingerbread House decorating party with upwards of 50 people at a time. Set up folding tables throughout the family room and living room; dozens of bags of icing and a kitchen table covered with candy and decorating materials: creativity, collaboration, and festive laughter throughout the house.
The cul-de-sac is an ideal spot for kids to learn to ride a bike, scooter, or roller blade, and a safe place to play games like four-square.
The olive tree in the front yard was a favorite spot for our kids to climb and sit on the lower branches to read books. It also provided a nice shady spot to set up a lemonade stand in the summertime.
Easy walking distance to Prospect High School gave our kids a sense of independence.
